This year we are off to Portugal's capital city, Lisbon.

Staying at the 4* Hotel VIP Executive Madrid on a Bed and Breakfast basis. 

 The VIP Executive Madrid Hotel is located in the heart of Lisbon, near “Praça Marquês de Pombal” and “Avenida da Liberdade”. Just two blocks away from Lisbon’s Historical Centre and within walking distance from countless attractions and shopping areas. A few minutes away you may also find public transportation services like underground, train station, bus stop and taxi.  The stylish guestrooms have warm decor and all of which include makeup mirrors, providing facilities such as Air Condition, Cable/Satellite TV, Clock-Radio, Hairdryer, In Room Safe, Mini Bar, Private Bath, Radio, Telephone, Wake-Up Service, Room Service, and rent-a-car. 

The hotel has a lobby with a 24-hour reception, a hotel safe, a cafe and a lift and guests can relax in the bar and lounge, warm up in front of the lobby fireplace, order snacks and drinks. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are several dining options within the surrounding area.

Lisbon has some wonderful areas to explore like the Baixa area which is in the centre of Lisbon or the oldest district in Lisbon the Alfama, which has remained a picturesque labyrinth of narrow streets and small squares. Lately the neighbourhood has been invigorated with the renovation of the old houses and new restaurants

Belem is where the Portuguese explorers set off from and where the Belem tower is situated amongst other beautiful historic palaces and buildings.

Also we are hoping to offer a day trip to Estoril and Sintra and another of Rod MacArthur's battlefield tours this time to Torres Vedras and anybody who went to Salamanca last year will tell you these are fascinating.

For those of you who want to 'go it alone' there are various options for getting round getting round Lisbon two of the most popular are the Hop on Hop off buses now a feature of most major cities and the famous Lisbon tram system.
